Is it really unlimited sites and unlimited editors?
Yes. Pro is $29/month per workspace no matter how many sites you publish, how many pages you write, or how many teammates edit. Your fifth site costs $0. Your fiftieth teammate costs $0. We never price per seat or per site.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — Pro and Business both start with a one-month free trial. You can also stay on the Free plan for as long as you like; it doesn't expire.
How do AI credits work?
1 credit = 1 AI review of a page. Pro includes 500 credits and Business includes 2,000, and they reset on your billing date each month. Need more? Top up $10 for 1,000 credits — prepaid only, so there are never surprise charges. We always spend your included credits first, so top-ups sit untouched until you actually need them, and each pack stays valid for 12 months from purchase.
What happens if I run out of AI credits?
Nothing breaks. Deterministic style checks — glossary, banned terms, heading order — keep running on every page even with zero credits. AI review simply pauses until your credits reset or you top up.
Does re-reviewing a page cost another credit?
Yes — each completed review spends one credit, including when you re-review a page you've edited. Reviews that fail or error out never cost you a credit. Bring-your-own-key (coming soon to Business and Enterprise) will run reviews on your own model account without spending Elastic Docs credits at all.
What counts toward my storage limit?
Only media you upload — images, video, and other assets. Your published site, your exports, your page content, and your version history don't count toward it, so 25 GB on Pro goes a very long way.
Can I use my own AI model?
It's coming to Business and Enterprise — not live yet. When it lands you'll point Elastic Docs at your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, reviews will run on your account, and they won't spend Elastic Docs credits. Today every plan runs on our models using your included credits.
How does this compare to GitBook's pricing?
GitBook Premium is $65 per site/mo plus $12 per user/mo. A 10-person team with two docs sites pays about $250/mo there — the same team pays $29/mo here, flat. Try the calculator above with your own numbers.
Do I get locked in?
Never. Your content is Markdown-native — export to Markdown, HTML, PDF, or EPUB at any time on every plan, including Free.
Can AI agents update our docs?
Yes. The API v1 and official CLI (with a drop-in agent skill) let coding agents like Claude Code read your page tree and safely update content with scoped keys and ETag concurrency.
